This is my portfolio of work.
I am a print designer, and I relish tough design challenges.
I read this book recently: And then We Came to the End. Throughout the book, my attention was perpetually drifting away from the primary story line, and back to the fictional problem that is one of the centerpieces of the plot: How to design a campaign that would do nothing but make fun of cancer and make cancer patients laugh. I never did come up with a solution, but never did any of the characters in the book... well not really. I wish someone would hire me to solve a problem like that.
What I'm trying to say is that I relish the tough jobs, I am happiest with constraint, and I really believe that bigger is almost always better... the real question is what gets bigger, and that "what" could be anything!
I have included, and will continue to include, a wide range of my work to this site. I hope you like it. I am including my paintings to a section as well. Occasionally, I take commisions for portrait work, but it's not something that I actively pursue anymore. That said, if you've got an idea for a portrait and you're interested in my work, please feel free to contact me. Just so you know, pets are my speciality.
Pumpkin Crazy
The 2008 crop of pumpkin carvings was a big hit. Things got a little crazy for a while, There was an online news story on philly.com. Then the print edition came out. For the finale, I drove up to New York to deliver a portrait to the Colbert Report. Look for it right at the end of this video.
Homebrewing. Deep in it.
Many of you know that I dont drink, but what you way not know, is that this year I've turned into an avid homebrewer of fine craft beers. Ok Ok, my first couple batches may not have been very "fine," but they've all been pretty crafty.
I've been taking some photos of my recent set of all-grain batches, and I thought I'd share them. So now there is a dedicated area on my site to all-things-homebrewing. You can find it under "Other Projects" where all of other my weird activities and obesessions already reside.
Background and Contact
I grew up all over the place. I went to High School at HKIS in Hong Kong, and loved every minute of it. From there, I was off to college at the Savannah College of Art and Design. Four years later, I made my way to Philadelphia, where I freelanced professionally and somewhat unsuccessfully for a few years before finding a great job at the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce, where we do great work with a great group of friends
You will eventually be able to find my resume here, but I hope that my work speaks for itself. If you have a project in mind that you might want to hire me for, Email me and we can talk about it.
WOW! I'm a dork
First Post: I did it!
Well, I finally did it. With the expert help, guidance and inspiration of my co-worker and friend Mike Ball, and the peer pressure and support of my other friend and co-worker Kara Schlindwein, I made a website.
