2008 Annual Meeting - Invitation package
The Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce is an old organization... Two-hundred and eight years old as a matter of fact. The Chamber and it's members have lived through some good years and some rough years. But our survival has never been in question.
With the economy what is is, and how it looked back in late October 2008, an important theme for the Chamber to project was confidence and experience. To convey this visually, I chose to showcase the idea of growth rings in a very old tree.
With growth rings, one can measure the history of a tree back to is earliest years. Identifing the drought years, and the abundant years, the perpective from this living history is humbling. It throws into relief, both the smallness of one year among many, but also the importance of each year to the continuing survival of the tree.
